Mogalakwena road project to benefit local residents – Dept
Mokopane and a rural community of Tiberius will benefit millions from a road project.
LIMPOPO – The road construction and upgrading from gravel to a tar road of the Road D3556 from N11 at Gilead to D3537 at Pudiyakgopa will start on 1 September. At the handover of the project Mogalakwena Municipality Mayor, Andrina Matsemela, said: “I will not rest until Mogalakwena’s roads are tarred”.
The Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC, Jerry Ndou, indicated the budget for the project is R29 million for the tar road, local business people will benefit R87,5 million to supply contractors and R1,5 million will go for training the youth in different skills. “The total cost of the project is R382 million,” Ndou said.
He thanked the Tiberius community for their patience and appealed to them not to stop or interrupt the project. “If there are problems with the projects, the community must report the matter to us. Contractors must employ the unemployed in the community and surrounding areas. If we work together we can move South Africa forward.”
