Both wild lions recaptured, after escaping in Georges Valley area
Two wild lions escaped from a trailer along the Georges Valley (R528) road earlier today (Sunday)
LIMPOPO – The second lion which escaped from a vehicle and trailer on Sunday afternoon has been recaptured.
According to reports of social media the lion was tracked and darted at around 02:00 this morning (Monday).
The second lion has also been darted in rainy weather early this morning, and our valley is safe again!

LIMPOPO – According to police reports one of the two lions which escaped from a vehicle and trailer earlier today has been recaptured. The second lion is still on the loose and was last seen in the vicinity of the pine plantations near Vula-Vula outside Tzaneen, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
The one lion has been captured again by the local farmers and vet, the other one is being searched with dogs

“A joint search operation is still ongoing in and around the Georges Valley and Makgobaskloof areas.

According to reports the two lions escaped from a vehicle and trailer which was travelling along the Georges Valley road (R528) on Sunday afternoon.
“It is alleged the animals were being transported from one enclosure to the another, however this is still to be verified through ongoing investigations,” added Ngoepe.
Redisnts in the area are warned to be extra careful when moving or travelling in this area. Anyone who spots the lion can contact the nearest police station or the Police Emergency number on 10111.

Two wild lions on the loose in Georges Valley area
LIMPOPO – According to reports on social media two lions escaped from a vehicle and trailer travelling along the Georges Valley road (R528) at around 17:30 today (Sunday).
It is alleged one of the lions was hurt when it jumped from trailer and ran into the nearby plantation and the second lion ran towards a stream on the opposite side.
Residents in the area are warned to be on the lookout and to contact relevant authorities when the animals are spotted.
Authorities are tracking the animals.
