Three musketeers sentenced for 2016 armed robbery

Three notorious robbers will now spend their days behind bars for the serious crimes they committed in 2016.

MOKOPANE – According to Mokopane Police Spokesperson Sgt Irene Mmadikgale Masingi, Jerry Lucky Mathekga (28), Josiah Khumalo (27) and Elijah Teffo (23) entered a business on 25 October and held the owner and a colleague at gunpoint. They then demanded that the owner take them to the computer room where one of the robbers ordered both victims to lie down and tied them with a belt.

The robbers fled the scene with various computer equipment, cellphones and R52 000.

After the robbers fled the scene the victims managed to free themselves and contact the police.

The robbers appeared in the Mokopane Regional Court last Wednesday and Mathekga and Khumalo were sentenced to 15 years imprisonment while Teffo was sentenced to three years imprisonment.

Masingi added that the police hoped that this sentence would bring relief and closure for the victims.
