Several suspects arrested during SAPS operation in Louis Trichardt and Thohyandou areas

LIMPOPO – The relentless effort to deal with incidents of burglaries throughout the province has once again proven successful following the arrests of several suspects during an intelligence led joint operation in and around the Thohoyandou and Makhado Clusters.

The operation was conducted by the Provincial Crime Intelligence Task Team jointly with the Thohoyandou Detectives, Makhado Police and the Thohoyandou POPS, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“In the Thohyandou area, a 34-year-old suspect believed to have been terrorising residents in areas of Thohoyandou, Muledane, Shayandima, Itsani, Tshisahulu and Makhado areas was arrested. More arrests are expected soon and the suspect may be connected to similar crimes.

During this operation cellphones, various IT equipment, firearms, tools, furniture and clothing were recovered.

The suspect will appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrates Court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen properties, possession of firearm without license.

Meanwhile in Mundzhedzi, Vleifontein area outside Makhado, eight suspects were intercepted by the police while in the process of robbing a local spaza shop.

During this operation ,two suspects (aged 25 and 36) were arrested and a Nissan Hard Body, cellphones, weapons and clothing were confiscated.

This suspect is believed to have been involved in several burglary businesses in and around the Makhado Policing areas, Kanana and Moletjie areas and in the Seshego Policing areas outside Polokwane.

The suspect will appear before the Louis Trichardt and Makhado magistrates courts respectively on various offenses including possession of suspected stolen properties.

Police investigation in both matters still continue.
