LIMPOPO – The officers attached to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) unit have arrested a 29-year-old man for the alleged rape of his elderly aunt, confirmed the police on Friday.
According to Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Mojapelo, the victim from Selawa village in Giyani was on her way home from attending a function at her neighbour’s house on Wednesday night when the incident occurred.
“It is alleged the suspect offered to escort her home, however, on the way pulled to the path leading to the river, closed her mouth with his hands and dragged her to the nearby bushes where he raped her. While attempting to rape her the second time he heard people walking in their direction and fled the scene.
The suspect was arrested yesterday (Thursday) and will appear before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Monday facing a charge of rape, concluded Mojapelo.
