MOKOPANE – Bosveld received a tip-off late Wednesday afternoon that municipal employees would strike today over a salary dispute with the Mogalakwena Municipality and the Mayor, Andrina Matsimela.
This morning employees gathered outside the municipal building but the doors remained closed and workstations remained deserted. None of the employees approached by Bosveld were willing to give comment on the matter. They also did not confirm or deny the allegation that they were on strike due to a wage dispute.
Municipal Spokesperson, Malesela Selokela, denied that the employees were on strike when asked for comment late on Wednesday and when Bosveld attempted to call him today, the phone went unanswered.
Bosveld sent him a message asking for comment with regard to his denial of a looming strike on Wednesday but that the municipal offices were closed on Thursday.
No response had been received by the municipality by the time of this posting but Bosveld will keep readers updated as more information becomes available.
