Aggrieved community demands premier to intercede
Residents from communities within the jurisdiction of the Ndlovu Traditional Authority on Friday marched to the Office of the Premier to hand over a memorandum of their grievances.
POLOKWANE – The aggrieved community said they have suffered a long time under the Acting Senior Traditional Leader, Prescilla Ledwaba, and her collective.
They said according to customs of the tribal authority, the administration of the council is run by the senior administration officer, but Ledwaba permits the spokesperson of the council to be in charge of the administration. These actions, they said, bring into disrepute the effective and efficient services of the traditional authority.

Residents said the emblem of the Ndlovu Traditional Council was changed to the Lewaba Ndlovu Traditional Leader without consultation with the people and they wanted the changing of the emblem to be stopped until a public participation process had taken place.
They also demand official receipts should be issued for the purchasing of stands and payment only be made at the office of the traditional authority. They said the dispute of the Ndlovu Traditional Authority as lodged with the Kgatla Commission has not yet been finalised and they demanded to be given a date when the investigations will be finalised.
They asked the premier to release the report by the commission or advise on his recommendations to the commission.
The community demanded their road be tarred as it is one of two tribal gravel roads within the Lepelle -Nkumpi Municipality. A successful meeting was held between the royal council, the municipality and the Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL) but when the engineers were sent to evaluate the road to Ga-Ledwaba, they were allegedly turned away by the senior acting traditional leader, who cited they were not consulted.
The site, earmarked for the construction of a community hall, was also not approved by the acting senior traditional leader and a series of meetings were held with the royal council.
The Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) then decided to stop the project. The community in turn wanted CDM to reverse its decision and allow construction to commence as soon as possible at the identified site.
Another issue mentioned in the memo is that the acting senior traditional leader interferes and is allegedly discriminating against members of the Ndlovu Traditional Authority when it comes to recruiting people for the nearby mines. The protesters demanded the spokesperson of the acting senior traditional leader desists from interfering and using the traditional authority’s stamp.
