Fabion is his name and public health care is his game
Fabion Bennett is the General Manager at Netcare Pholosho Hospital, ensuring the smooth running of the hospital with the backing of his team.
POLOKWANE – Bennett was born in East London in the Eastern Cape, where he also grew up.
The always smiling man could easily be mistaken for one of his staff members, as he eases through the hospital with unassuming confidence.
He took up the role as general manager at the hospital in April this year, and has already made a positive impact with an enthused team and a spirit of delivering outstanding service.

“It is a considerable responsibility, but also an incredible privilege to be responsible for the effective, ethical and efficient functioning of a hospital.
“People turn to us in their times of need and we care for them when they are ill or have been injured. We are privileged to share in their joy when we are able to assist in improving their quality of life, aid in their recovery from illness, or to welcome a new baby into the world,” said Bennett.
He completed a Master’s degree in public health through the Albertina Sisulu Executive Leadership Programme in Health, and he explained that the public health sector is a calling because of the sensitivity that comes from working with people when they’re at their most vulnerable.
He is currently busy with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and plans to enroll for a PhD once he has completed the MBA.
With all the balls he juggles, one has to wonder where he finds the time to do everything that he does.
“I have had to sacrifice sleep in order to do everything that I have set out to do. My family and my dreams are a priority hence it is important to find the right balance, one should not overlap the other,” he said.
