Gr R pupils move with technology

"We have to prepare children for a more technology advanced future and way of doing things," - Petro Loggenberg, Stimu-Zone franchise owner

POLOKWANE – As technology grows so does Stimu-Zone.

Petro Loggenberg said she had been working for Stimu-Zone for three years and after seeing an opportunity to help young minds, learn better and faster using technology,  she opted to buy the franchise from the Director, Eneka Pretorius. “I love children and I love to teach children, the joy that comes with seeing them grow up from being toddlers learning bit by bit how to use technology gives me ultimate joy,” she explained.

The main aim of the prgramme is to ensure the children are equipped with basic computer skills numeracy skills, logic thinking and reasoning, literacy, perceptual skills as well as auditory and visual skills.  According to Petro Loggenberg, franchise owner the programs are designed to teach children from the age of 5-13 years how to open and close a program, mouse skills, keyboard skills, saving devices, handling and usage of hardware devices as well as fine motor development.

“We have to prepare children for a more technology advanced future and way of doing things, it can also be seen as a new way and exciting way of learning and engaging with the leaner with its interactive media aspect,” she added.

Petro says through Stimu-Zone learners get the confidence they need to use a device, either a tablet or a laptop correctly and have fun while learning. It also helps ensure that the learners can concentrate for longer lengths of time with the variety of lessons that they offer as they grow older.

“As technology grows so does Stimu-Zone. This year we have introduced Coding-(programming) to our syllabus and as over whelming as it sounds, it’s so simple that students from 5 years are being taught this whole new tecnological language and loving it. All ages from 2-13 years incorporated,” she concluded.
