POLOKWANE – Not all of us can tell twins part easily. Now, imagine how tricky and confusing life for teachers and some of the learners at Hoërskool Westenburg Secondary School is as the school currently has nine sets of twins (Three sets of boy and girl and the six same sex twins).

The twins are in Gr 8-11 and teacher, Ernest Nong, says teachers have gotten used to them over time, even though it was hard to tell them apart at first, especially with the same sex twins, who look identical when they are in uniform.

“We have been blessed with nine sets of twins in the school who add spark and fun with their different personalities. Even though they look alike and walk the same way, it’s their different characters and personalities that sets them apart. It’s not easy to identify them, especially when you don’t teach them. The good thing is that they are not naughty and they don’t misbehave, so we cope very well with them,” he said.

One of the twins said that they feel nothing out of the ordinary being twins, “We are our own people, even though we were born on the same day. We fight as much as we look out for one another, that is the special bond that we have as siblings,” added Tom and Jerry Hawkins.
