[VIDEO & PHOTOS] No major damage caused during Sterkloop fire
Storage space filled with wood, near the shop at Sterkloop, was set alight. However, despite the fire spreading, no major damage was caused to the surrounding buildings.
POLOKWANE – Traffic officials and the fire department were quick to respond to a fire that broke out at Sterkloop on Church Street on Monday night.
This after storage space packed with wood, next to the shop, was set alight and the fire spread.
Review spoke to the owner of Sterkloop, Ronelle Nelson, who said the storage space is rented out to someone who stores wood in it and that it was set alight from the bottom of the area in three spots and the fire spread quickly after.

Nelson says that there was no major damage caused to any of the surrounding buildings and that the fire was contained shortly after. “The fire department were on scene and the community also came to help with their own hose pipes,” she told Review.

Nelson concluded by saying that no case has been opened and that it is business as usual. A clean up process will take place to remove what is left from the blaze.
