Well known pastor and two accomplices arrested on illegal poaching conspiracy charges
One of the suspects was shot during a car chase with police on the R40 in Hoedspruit
LIMPOPO – A well known pastor from Pretoria and two of his accomplices will appear before the Hoedspruit Magistrate’s Court, soon, on attempted murder and conspiracy to commit illegal poaching charges following their arrest on Monday night, 3 June.

In a statement released by Limpopo police, the arrest was made during an intelligence driven, joint operation comprising of the Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Farm Watch following information received regarding an illegal poaching criminal syndicate.
Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspects were travelling in a Land Cruiser along the R40 road and police reacted swiftly.
“The motor vehicle with the same description was spotted along the same road and police ordered it to stop, however, the suspects did not co-orporate and continued to drive. A motor vehicle chase ensued before the suspects began shooting at police, who retaliated. One of the suspects was shot and all three suspects were arrested,” he explained.
During the arrest, Ngoepe added that one hunting rifle, one silencer, four rounds of live ammunition, a knife, an axe and one motor vehicle were recovered.
