MOKOPANE – Protesters have vowed to continue their shutdown protest for the next seven days. This after it was announced that an outcome has not yet been agreed on.
The Secretary of the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco), Tlou Sasa told Bosveld that the memorandum has been handed over to the ANC’s Deputy Secretary-General, Jesse Duarte. She has since requested seven days to respond to all demands.
The crowds have dispersed but vowed to continue the shutdown protests. No business will be forced to close their doors during this time, said Sasa.

MOKOPANE – Several hundreds of protestors have arrived at Oasis Lodge, and are awaiting municipal officials to brief them regarding the outcome of a closed meeting that was held this morning.
MOKOPANE – The protest march has been re-routed to Oasis Lodge. The group will now march down Nelson Mandela Drive and turn into Thabo Mbeki Road where they will march to the lodge, opposite Food Lover’s Market. Residents are once again advised to avoid affected areas.
MOKOPANE – Members of the Mogalakwena Task Team (MTT), South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) and Mokopane Concerned and Affected Citizens (MCAC) will again march to the municipality at 11:00. This, despite a closed meeting with ANC officials at the Oasis Lodge which started at 09:00.
The shutdown is a result of the previous protests which brought town to a standstill on 1 and 2 August after the killings of two ANC councillors, Vaaltyn Kekana and Ralph Kanyane.
The march will take the same route, down Nelson Mandela Drive, turn into Thabo Mbeki Road to the municipality in Retief Street. Residents are once again advised to avoid the CBD area today.
