Man (26) arrested for murder of woman found in abandoned Seshego shack
The man is suspected to be linked to other cases of rape and murder committed in the Seshego and Mankweng areas
POLOKWANE : The police made a major breakthrough when they arrested a suspected serial rapist and murderer during an Intelligence Led Joint operation conducted in the Seshego policing precinct.
This comes after a 21-year-old woman who was reported missing on the 5 July, was found dead in an abandoned shack at Seshego Zone 6 on Friday, 9 August.

Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe explained in a statement that soon after the disappearance of the deceased, Seshego Police Cluster Commander, Mjr Genl Sam Mokgonyana established a team who worked around the clock until the 26-year-old accused was arrested in his rented room in Seshego on Friday, 30 August.
During the arrest the deceased’s cellphone was found in the man’s possession. Preliminary police investigations revealed that the deceased was raped before she was killed, Ngoepe said.
When the investigations unfolded, it was discovered that the accused has committed a similar incident in 2014 in the Mankweng Policing area and that he was out on bail for other rape cases for which he is to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on 28 October.
Ngoepe added the man will appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court soon on a charges of rape and murder and later, in the Mankweng Magistrate Court on similar offences.
The accused may still be linked to similar unresolved cases committed in the Seshego, Mankweng and other areas as investigations unfold.
The identity of the deceased will only be released once the family members are fully informed and forensic tests are completed.
Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba has applauded Mokgonyana and his team on a job well done.
“We hope that victims of these heinous crimes and their families, will find closure after the arrest of this criminal. The SAPS will ensure that criminals are removed from our streets based on the continuous support from the community,” concluded Ledwaba.
