Cupcakes of Hope sold sweet treats to shoppers at Mall of the North (MoN) during a Cupcakes for Kids with Cancer event on Saturday with the aim of raising funds for young patients whose lives are affected and threatened by cancer.
Coordinator Louise Janse van Vuuren said this was the sweetest way to save a life as she indicated that money raised will be used to help cancer patients who can’t afford to pay medical bills. The cupcakes were sold at R10 each using goodies donated by good Samaritans and companies. Some were baked by members of Cupcakes of Hope. Janse van Vuuren could not disclose the money raised on the day due to security reasons.
“The support we get from the public is overwhelming. I think people understand the cause. It will be impossible for us to support cancer patients without the help from individuals, companies and different organisations hence we would like to thank each one of them for their continued support,” Janse van Vuuren explained.
She concluded by saying the exercise was a success and also thanked MoN shoppers for supporting the initiative.
