Residents speak out on the future of transport in Polokwane

Review spoke to commuters to hear what they think the future of transport holds for Polokwane, the rest of the province and the country and what changes they would like to see.

POLOKWANE – Transport is a huge part of our daily lives, with people constantly making trips, be it to the shops or to work.

The pace of the world is increasing and the demands need to be met instantaneously, hence the horse riding for days has evolved to reaching destinations across the world in a matter of hours.

Time is a big factor when it comes to people’s choice of transport with fewer people opting for the comfort of buses in exchange for the quickness of taxis. With that said, taxi’s are the most supported in the public transport sector.

People are however constantly looking for advancement and the public taxis are slowly being taken over in favour of more private transport like Uber and Taxify. This is because it’s convenient and offers privacy unlike any other form of transport. In light of transport month, Review spoke to commuters to hear what they think the future of transport holds for Polokwane, the rest of the province and the country and what changes they would like to see:

Jim Ramoroko – “It would nice to have more scooters as a form of transport in this country. They move around quicker and are best to avoid traffic.”
Thakgatso Mabotha – “I would like to see the future of transport advancing to having quick transport available at any time of day without the risk of safety. For those who cannot afford the Taxify’s and Bolt’s, it would be nice to have public transport ready 24 hours a day.”
Jeffrey Chauke – “I would like to see better maintained taxis and buses on the road in the future. As they transport more people, they need to be in the best shape because of the number of lives they possess.”
Ntwanano Siwela – “I would like to be able to uber a flight. Can you imagine just how advanced that would be? I would never have to use grounded transport ever again.”
Given Matlou – “I would like to have faster moving cars. We should have a different road for super cars where we can just move at a speed that we are comfortable with.
Nthabiseng Mohlamonyane – I would love to see transport evolve to air transport. Have quick access to flights from town to Mankweng. I think it would simplify things.
