Polokwane Municipality promoted the role of small entrepreneurs at an agri-preneurship seminar hosted at Jack Botes Hall on Tuesday as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW).
Entrepreneurs from various centres in the province showcased their merchandise that included moringa, bottled foodstuffs like pickled cherry peppers and cherry pepper sauce and even rabbit meat products.
The municipality’s Planning and Economic Development Director, Hyven Kholophe delivered the keynote address at the seminar and said that GEW was the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch start-ups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. “GEW is a platform for awareness and an opportunity to share with the world the importance of entrepreneurship as an economic driver. The event gives entrepreneurs a forum to network and connect with potential collaborators and mentors,” Kholophe said.
He explained: “It is a week dedicated to honour hard working entrepreneurs in various sectors of the economy, to empower and contribute towards a flourishing collaborative entrepreneurship ecosystem, to encourage emerging entrepreneurs to work towards achieving greatness, exceed the bounds of the possible and bring together entrepreneurs for networking, sharing ideas and expand resources.”
