Disciple Wear SA leads the youth with unique brand
The founders of Disciple Wear SA, Thabiso Lamola and Tshediso Ramaru, say their brand is unique because of the vision to influence the fashion industry and place a spotlight on streetwear.
POLOKWANE – Founded in 2019, the brand has exposed the duo to the industry and has allowed them to learn its dynamics. Tshediso, originally from Elim and Thabiso from Bochum said the brand was conseptualised in their home in Madiba Park where they drafted down ideas on how and when they could start.
“Disciple’ basically means ‘follower,’ and this term is used a lot in the Bible as Jesus Christ had his 12 disciples. If we look back to what the disciples were able to achieve after Jesus left this earth, they were able to carry out His message and do His work. So to us, we are the disciples ,” Tshediso added.
Tshediso and Thabiso’s biggest inspirations are Kanye West (founder of Yeezy) and Tshepo Mohlala (founder of the denim brand, Tshepo the Jean Maker).
“We relate more with our local designer, Tshepo Mohlala because his love for fashion and entrepreneurship made him one of the most recognised names locally and globally and our aim is to be known worldwide,” Thabiso added.
Disciple Wear SA features unique and colourful shirts, hoodies, beanies, socks, crop hoodies, boob tubes and disciple two-pieces which is a skirt and crop hoodies.

“Our original design didn’t go as planned so we now order ready-made shirts and hoodies on which we print our designs. There’s a lot of work behind our branding,” Thabiso said.

Tshediso tells BONUS that they haven’t yet dressed known models, but are currently working with local aspiring models in Polokwane. The duo advise aspiring brand founders to get out of their comfort zones and associate themselves with business-minded people who will influence brand growth.
“We have had many challenges but we have overcome them due to our love for the industry. It gives us a platform to express ourselves through our designs,” Tshediso said.
