Music soothes the soul, says artist Ntsako M

This man of many talents started his musical journey while playing the keyboard, and singing in church.

POLOKWANE – “I have loved music for as long as I can remember, and it is a big part of my life.”

These are the words from entrepreneur Ntsako ‘Ntsako M’ Mashaba (35) from Giyani, who is also the CEO of Bates College of Technology which he founded in 2015. He also owns an e-hauling business, but in his spare time, he dabbles in music and song writing.

He sings Afro Pop and explained that his musical journey started when he was young playing the keyboard and singing at church.  Over the years he has written over 40 songs, most of which are in Xitsonga, but sometimes inspiration strikes to make music in other languages like IsiZulu, English, Sotho and TshiVenda.

He is not signed to any record label yet as, he says, music is simply a hobby. “Music is my way of communicating and releasing my emotions, rather than a means to make money or build fame. I write songs when I’m happy, when I’m sad, when I see something that interests me or when I’m in love,” he said.

Ntsako M has received raving reviews on various local radio stations and on Munghana Lonene FM. He says the biggest challenge he faces, is time. “If I had more time to work on my music, I would be able to record more and release albums on an annual basis. I write songs for the people and not for myself. So, when people enjoy my music, it inspires me to greater things,” he said.

The man of many talents is currently finalising his next album, which consists of between 20 and 22 original songs, which will be released soon. “For now, people can follow my Facebook page, NtsakoM, where they can get all the links and updates on the album and also listen and enjoy a variety of songs,” he concluded.
