More areas without water today

Lepelle Northern Water reported another issue at one of their plants, while the Ebenezer Plant already has a water supply shutdown scheduled for today.

POLOKWANE – More areas of Polokwane and surrounds will be without water supply today according to Polokwane Municipality Spokesperson, Thipa Selala.

The Ebenezer Plant already has a water supply shutdown scheduled for today which will affect some parts of the city, but Selala said in a statement that Lepelle Northern Water informed that about another issue at one of their plants.

This issue is at the Olifantspoort Scheme, where water supply has been stopped.

“The stoppage, according to Lepelle Northern Water, is due to a leaking raw water pipe. Water supply had to be stopped in order for the team to fix the pipe,” the statement read.

Selala added that an estimated seven hours is needed to fix the leakage.

“This will affect all areas of supply from Ga-Maja, Ga-Chuene, Thokgwaneng, Polokwane Smelters, the city and Seshego,” he added.

The municipality urged areas with water supply, to use it sparingly.
