Two foreigners found dead in spaza shop near Lebowakgomo

One of the deceased's partners discovered them.

LIMPOPO – Two men, believed to be foreign nationals, were discovered in a spaza shop in Masemola, near Lebowakgomo, this morning.

An inquest case has since been opened, according to Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

One of the deceased’s partners went to check on the duo and discovered their bodies.

Reports suggest that they were cooking food inside the shop, using a gas stove and forgot to switch it off before they went to sleep, Ngoepe added.

“Prior to the discovery of the bodies, there was a strange gas smell that could be inhaled a few meters away from the spaza shop. The cause of death on the two deceased will still be determined by the ongoing police investigations including the post mortem examination,” Ngoepe explained.

Their identities and nationalities have been withheld by the police, until their families are informed.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba urged members of the public to take precaution to avoid such incidents.
