Head-on collision on R71 leaves 4 dead
Nine other people sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
LIMPOPO – Four people died and nine were injured after a head-on collision on the R71 at Nemakgale outside Phalaborwa on Wednesday evening.
According to Media Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport, Mike Maringa, the incident involved a minibus taxi and a sedan. “The driver of the sedan and a female passenger from the minibus were certified dead on the scene. Two other passengers succumbed to their injuries upon arrival at a hospital.”
Maringa added that nine other people were seriously injured and were transported to Maphuta Malatjie hospital for medical treatment.
“Preliminary investigations revealed speeding and reckless and negligent driving as the possible cause of the accident.”
