Man (29) offers Seshego cop bribe to derail drunken driving case

The man was arrested after he offered the police officer R1 500.

POLOKWANE – The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Maj Gen Christine Moralakadi, has warned people who still perpetrate any of form of corruption, especially in trying to bribe members of the South African Police Service, that they will meet the full might of the law.

Moralakadi sent out this stern warning after a 29-year-old man was arrested for corruption on Friday, 20 November.

According to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the man offered a police officer at the Seshego police station a R1 500 gratification, to derail the investigations into his drunken driving case.

“The matter was reported to the police and an undercover operation was conducted. The man was arrested and is expected to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 November,” Ngoepe explained.

Police investigations continue, Ngoepe concluded.
