Toddler (3) killed in head-on collision on R578

16 other people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.

LIMPOPO – A collision involving a sedan and minibus taxi resulted in the death of a 3-year-old on Friday night.

The incident happen on the R578 near Mbokota village in the Vhembe district, said the Transport Department’s Media Liaison Officer, Mike Maringa.

He said 16 people were injured.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the vehicles was overtaking on the barrier line when it collided with an on-coming vehicle. The driver of the sedan and a passenger sustained serious injuries, while a 3-year-old from the same vehicle was certified dead on the scene,” he explained.

The taxi driver and 13 passengers escaped with minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
