Storms causes ‘electrical challenges’ in some areas of Polokwane

The Polokwane Municipality's Spokesperson, Thipa Selala, said power lines were damaged due to last night's storm.

POLOKWANE – The Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala, says some areas within the municipality are experiencing numerous electrical challenges to due heavy storms experienced last night.

Selala said power lines were damaged by roofing materials in parts of Seshego and Luthuli Park, and as a result, these areas are still off.

“Ivydale is also off as a result of storm damages. The municipality is also attending to individual complaints,” his statement read.

Selala urged consumers to exercise patience while the electrical team resolves the issues.

“All affected areas are urged to treat all electrical wiring as live and switch off all appliances to avoid injury and damage once supply is restored. All electricity related challenges can be reported to the electrical helpline at 015 023 5490 / 015 023 5705 so that the municipality can respond promptly,” he concluded.
