[WATCH] Polokwane Eastern Ring Road officially opened by Transport Minister

In addition, 120 vehicles were distributed to the nine provinces ahead of the festive season.

POLOKWANE – Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula, earlier today, officiated the opening of the Polokwane N1 North Ring Road, alongside the MEC of Transport, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya.

The opening coincided with the launch of the 365 Waya-Waya road campaign aimed at promoting life beyond December. 120 vehicles were also handed over to each province as part of the launch.

During his keynote address, Mbalula emphasised that the work of law enforcement agencies should become easier as the vehicles had been kitted out with the latest technology to make their jobs easier.

Construction of the ring-road began in 2015 and it lies to the south and east of Polokwane and extends from the Shell Ultra City for 25.4 km to the Tzaneen Interchange at the R71.

Mbalula exclaimed its perfect timing ahead of the festive season as scores of motorists are expected in the province.
