One dead in multi-vehicle collision along R567
The collision between a tractor and trailer, a sedan and a bakkie happened approximately 60km from Polokwane on Thursday, 17 December.
LIMPOPO – One man is dead and three other people injured in a multi-vehicle collision along the R567, said Er24’s Multimedia Producer, Ross Campbell in a statement on Friday morning.
The collision involved a tractor towing a flatbed trailer, a light motor vehicle (LMV) and a bakkie.
“ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene at 20:32 to find the provincial emergency medical services (EMS) already in attendance. One man had suffered fatal injuries and three other were found lying on the side of the road, having suffered moderate injuries.”
The injured parties were treated on the scene and were transported to a provincial hospital in the area.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matomi Moremi-Taueatsoala confirmed the incident and added that it happened at around 19:45 near Hwibi village in the Capricorn District.

The driver of the LMV was declared dead on the scene. Three other people, including the driver of the bakkie sustained moderate injuries, he said.
The exact cause of the collision will be determined through police investigation however reckless driving has not been ruled out.
Meanwhile in a separate collision, three people died and 13 were injured in a head-on crash between a sedan and a loading van along the R524 on Thursday.

Three people, two from the sedan and one from the bakkie, were certified dead on the scene while one person was rushed to to Tshilidzini Hospital in a critical condition.
12 others escaped with minor injuries. Reckless and negligent driving was cited as a possible cause of the incident.
