Limpopo Covid-19 cases surpass 22 500 mark

According to the latest statistics by the Health Department, the province recorded 314 cases in the last 24-hours.

LIMPOPO – The province saw an increase of 314 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, of which five cases are unallocated.

The cumulative number of cases is at 22 624 of which 19 607 people have recovered. The Limpopo Health Department says 544 people have thus far died of Covid-19 in the province.

The most new cases were recorded in the Capricorn district (144) of which 119 new cases were recorded in Polokwane. Lepelle Nkumpi recorded 16 new cases followed by Blouberg (5) and Molemole (4).

The Mopani district had 74 new cases. Tzaneen recorded 38 new cases, while 13 new cases were recorded in Giyani, 10 in Phalaborwa, seven in Greater Letaba and six in Maruleng.

The majority of Vhembe’s 56 new cases were recorded in Thulamela (27). The other cases were recorded in Makhado (14), Collins Chabane (8) and Musina (7).
 
The Waterberg district recorded 24 new cases of which Modimolle-Mookgophong had 12 new cases, followed by 10 in Thabazimbi and one each in Lephalale and Mokgalakwena respectively.
 
The Sekhukhune district recorded the fewest new cases (11). The majority of their cases were recorded in Fetakgomo/Tubatse (8), while Makhuduthamaga had two new cases and Ephraim Mogale had one new case.
 
Thus far, 135 648 tests have been conducted of which 52 612 were done by the public sector and 83 036 were done by the private sector.
