Limpopo: 461 more Covid-19 cases recorded

According to the Limpopo Health Department's latest statistics; the recovery rate is currently at 85,3%

LIMPOPO – The province saw an increase of 461 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, of which one case is unallocated. The cumulative number of cases in the province is 23 265 of which 19 837 people have recovered.

This translates to a recovery rate of 85,3%, however, 34 more Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded since the department last released statistics.

Thus far, 578 people have died from the virus and the province currently has 2 850 active cases.

The majority of new cases were recorded in the Capricorn district (218), of which 197 cases were recorded in Polokwane. Molemole recorded 10 new cases followed by Blouberg (6) and Lepelle Nkumpi (5).

The Waterberg district recorded 114 new cases, with the most new cases recorded in Lephalale (77) and Modimolle-Mookgophong (29). Mokgalakwena and Bela-Bela each had three new cases and two new cases were recorded in Thabazimbi.

Makhado had 33 new cases – the most new cases in Vhembe (53). The other cases in the district were recorded in Thulamela (10), Musina (8) and Collins Chabane (2).

The Mopani district’s 39 new cases were recorded in Tzaneen (23), Giyani (8), Phalaborwa (4), Letaba (3) and Maruleng (1).

The Sekhukhune district recorded 36 new cases of which the majority was recorded in Elias Motsoaledi (15). The other cases were recorded in Ephraim Mogale (8), Makhuduthamaga (7) and Fetakgomo/Tubatse (6).

Thus far, 137 116 test have been conducted of which 53 064 were done in the public sector and 84 052 were done in the private sector.
