Non-compliance with lockdown regulations: ‘No negotiations, we will just arrest’
The Transport and Community Safety MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, has send out a stern warning to residents to adhere to current lockdown regulations.
LIMPOPO – Lerule-Ramakhanya was accompanied by Health MEC, Phophi Ramathuba, during a joint Road Safety Operation on the D19 outside Seshego.

According to a statement by the department’s Media Liaison Officer, Mike Maringa, the operation was aimed at monitoring compliance to current regulations announced by the president recently.
“The Transport and Community Safety MEC has urged people to comply with lockdown level 3 regulations ahead of New Year’s celebrations. Public transport compliance and adherence to health regulations by road users was closely monitored by the two MECs,” Maringa explained.

He said the MECs visited the Seshego Circle Centre to monitor compliance as hundreds of people continue to shop ahead of New Year’s Eve.

“A hair salon was closed for non-compliance and four foreigners were arrested for working without permits as well as being in the country illegal. The two MECs have commended shoppers and road users for assisting government to fight the second wave of Covid-19,” Maringa’s statement reads.

Lerule-Ramakhaya says law enforcers will be out on the streets to monitor compliance and will not negotiate with anyone caught transporting alcohol or selling it illegally.
“We plea to everybody to not do anything illegally. When we find you transporting alcohol or drinking at a restaurant, there will not be negotiations, you will be arrested,” the MEC pleaded.
