965 more Covid-19 cases in Limpopo

As of 1 January, the cumulative number of cases in the province is 24 994.

LIMPOPO – The Limpopo Health Department’s latest statistics indicate that 965 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours. Of these cases, six are unallocated and 10 are in transit cases.
 
The cumulative number of cases is at 24 994, of which 20 865 people have recovered and 592 have passed away.
 
The majority of new cases in the province was recorded in the Capricorn district (343). Polokwane had 292 new cases followed by Lepelle Nkumpi (33), Molemole (11) and Blouberg (7).
 
The Vhembe district had 256 new cases of which 135 were recorded in Thulamela, 79 in Makhado, 28 in Collins Chabane and 14 in Musina.
 
Modimolle-Mookgophong’s 72 new cases was the most new cases in the Waterberg district, which recorded 174 cases. Lephalale had 51 new cases, while Bela-Bela had 21, Thabazimbi 18 and Mokgalakwena 12.
 
The Mopani district recorded 135 new cases. Tzaneen had the most new cases in the district (69), followed by Letaba (22), Phalaborwa (18), Giyani (16) and Maruleng (10).
 
The Sekhukhune district’s 41 new cases were recorded in Elias Motsoaledi (14), Makhuduthamaga (13), Fetakgomo/Tubatse (10) and Ephraim Mogale (4).
 
The department notes that 3 537 cases are currently active.
