LIMPOPO – The dam levels in the province continue to show a slight improvement from week to week and according to Sputnik Ratau, Spokesperson for the Department of Water and Sanitation this week’s improvement is a continuation from late last year.

Ratau says this rise is expected to continue into next week due to the approaching tropical storm ‘’Eloise’’. “The storm is predicted to bring extreme rainfall in escarpment of Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Northern KwaZulu Natal starting from Sunday, 24 January 2021,” he explained.

According to the department’s weekly Status of Dams report, the Limpopo provincial water storage has increased slightly, rising from 59.9% last week to 60.3% this week.

This is a minor improvement from last year when water levels were at 60.0% during the same period.

Although the department acknowledges that this week’s slight increase is a positive outlook, Limpopo residents are still urged to continue utilising water cautiously since they are not out of the woods yet.
