Bodies of missing mom and daughter found wrapped in plastic

The 30-year-old mother and her young daughter were reported missing in February this year.

LIMPOPO –  The police appeals to the public to assist them with information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrator(s) that murdered a 30-year-old mother and her seven-year-old daughter.

The bodies of the deceased were found near ga-Femane village outside Tzaneen on Thursday evening.

“The police were notified and arrived on the scene to find the bodies of the deceased in a state of decomposition. They were wrapped in a plastic and their hands were tied with a rope,” said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Ngoepe explained that the deceased who were identified as Mapheto Caroline Rathupetjane and her daughter, Thapelo Selina Rathupetjane were reported missing in February.

“The duo were last seen the evening of 25 January when they left their home in Matipane village without informing anyone in the family about their destination. They never returned home and the family filed a missing person report on 2 February.

“A search operation was immediately activated and conducted without success until the gruesome discovery of the deceased by a passersby.”

Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Maj Genl Samuel Manala has since ordered a 72-hour activation plan to be implemented to hunt down the suspect(s) involved in this incident.
