Leeto La Polokwane: Rides on the bus will be free for now
Commuters will have the opportunity to travel on and experience the Leeto La Polokwane Bus services at no cost during the dry-run.
POLOKWANE – Commuters will, from 5 April, be able to travel on and experience the Leeto La Polokwane Bus services at no cost.
According to updated information provided to BONUS by the Assistant Manager for Public Transport Regulation and Compliance, Rebotile Malakalaka, strict compliance with Covid-19 regulations will be adhered to during the dry run and that the City of Polokwane is ready to commence with the rollout of operations at the end of April. Malakalaka says the initial rollout plan for the beginning of March was disrupted by the announcement and implementation of the level 3 lockdown by government.
She reminded commuters that Leeto La Polokwane is a cashless bus service, which means that no cash will be accepted as the system uses preloaded travel cards.
She added that capacitation and training of drivers, as well as testing of the bus systems have commenced and as a result, the public will start to see the Leeto La Polokwane busses on the roads in the city and along the Phase 1A route.

“Leeto La Polokwane has been introduced to the city to improve the state of public transport and the overall passenger experience in Polokwane, as such, members of the community are encouraged to support this new public transport service,” she concluded.
Previously, Malakalaka told BONUS that bus fares have been determined for commuters travelling between Seshego, Westenburg, Flora Park and the city with a ride from Seshego costing R10 and Westenburg and Flora Park costing R6 each. “The paid system will be implemented after the dry-run.”
