The Department of Transport and Community Safety continue to conduct 'intensive roadblocks' in the province to screen motorists for outstanding traffic infringement fines and check the validity of drivers licenses.
LIMPOPO – Fines, fines and more fines as the Department Transport and Community Safety continues with their intensive operations across province. The operations are focused on screening motorists for outstanding traffic infringement fines and to check the validity of drivers licenses.
Simon Kekana, Chief of Traffic in Waterberg District said that these operations encourage motorists to visit their local traffic offices to check whether they have any unpaid fines on their record. “The first operation of this kind took place in Mokopane over a week ago and since then, the public have been visiting the traffic offices to check the status of their fines and paying their outstanding ones.”
Their latest operation was conducted along the R101 and R516 near Bela-Bela from 06:00 this morning. “During the three-hour long road traffic operation the department stopped and screened over 326 drivers, issued 25 summonses and effected six warrants of arrest. Over 100 drivers were screened for warrants resulting in the impounding of one mini bus and a motor vehicle was discontinued,” Kekana said.
In Mokopane last week the operation resulted in over 384 drivers were screened, 17 warrants of arrest were enforced and 17 summons were issued.

“We encourage motorists to visit their traffic offices and get themselves screened, before it is to late,” Kekana concluded.
