Baatshuma officers assist with credit control
The Polokwane Municipality has enlisted the services of Baatshuma to assist with credit control on municipal accounts.
POLOKWANE – Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says the mandate of Baatshuma includes the delivery of cut-off notices, along with the actual cut-off and reconnection of services and the registration and administration of indigents.
According to Selala, they have jurisdiction over the entire municipal area. “The team will attend to all properties that need attention as far as their services are concerned. As the municipal contractors, they communicate to and from the municipality as and when matter arises.”
Selala has warned residents to not pay any money directly to any official from Baatshuma saying that they are under no circumstances authorised to collect or to levy any officials.
“Baatshuma does not have the mandate to demand or ask for money from any resident. If you owe the municipality money, the you need to pay it directly to the municipality. Their responsibilities are to assist with disconnect and restoration of services. Anyone who has paid money directly to them can open a case with the police or lay an official complaint to the anti-fraud unit.”
Selala urged residents to forwards any complaints can be directed to the anti fraud hotline at 080 020 5053 or even to the police at 08600 10111.
