Paint, sip and unleash creativity

Ladies unlocked their painting creativity as they created their own masterpieces while they sipped on wine.

POLOKWANE – Elysian Visions founder Thorisho Mamabolo hosted a paint and sip event at her house in Bendor last Saturday.

“As this was my first paint and sip event, I decided to host it at my home so that the ladies could feel comfortable and relaxed. The event is designed for all artistic levels, from those who haven’t picked up a paintbrush before to advanced artists. The idea was to create a space for women of all ages, personalities and professions to share their journeys and encourage each other to do more,” Thoriso said.

Elysian Visions was established in August and she says it means ‘paradise’.

Ladies received random quotes attached to their paintings and everyone shared them with one another as an ice-breaker, while they also shared a little bit about their lives.

“My main aim was to create a space for mental health to be discussed and to not be a taboo as I went through some mental health issues in my life. The only way I overcame it was by being open and not ashamed about it. To create this space has always been my dream.

“Although I am a BCom law graduate, receptionist and estate administrator for a law firm in Polokwane, event organising has always been my passion and I will pursue both careers,” Thoriso said.

The ladies closed off Women’s Month with a proverbial ‘bang’.

“We painted, shared our stories, laughed and cried. I’m most grateful for all the support and love. I couldn’t have done this without all these beautiful ladies,” Thoriso added.

Thoriso thanked her sponsors; Alkaline who donated bottled water, The House of Signs and Printing who made the welcome board, Swift who sponsored the aprons, Modipamma Projects who donated the canvas stands and Reasibe Catering who donated the tables and chairs. “Be on the lookout for our next one,” concluded Thoriso.
