In an effort to encourage staff and acknowledge the work they have done, the Midey Group hosted its annual Gala Dinner at the Royal Hotel on Saturday, November 6.
Employees put on their beautiful evening gowns and dapper suits as they were the honoured stars of the evening. Awards that were given included the CEO Award, Best Newcomer and Outstanding Performance Award, as well as the coveted Employee of the Year, among others.
According to the group’s founder, Ayodele Ogunrinde, to celebrate his employees and appreciate clients is important, given what they have done for the group.

“I believe that we motivate them to do better in the future when we award them. The happiness of my staff and the communities we serve is of the utmost importance.”
Ogunrinde said the group has launched a grocery plan, in which they give clients groceries for funerals. “The main aim of the business is to make profit, but we also have to take care of the community at large. We need to give back. The aim is to fight unemployment in South Africa,” he added.
Ogunrinde said he is proud to have made an impact in the community and remembers a house the group donated to a family in the Collins Chabane Municipality.
“We were saddened to see the condition of the house following heavy rains in the area and we knew the chances of Constencia rebuilding the house were slim as she was unemployed. When we helped the Chauke family, it wasn’t because we needed something in return, we did it from the bottom of our hearts,” he said. The Midey Group have also adopted two learners from the Litshani Vhana Vhade Foundation in Muledane. “We felt indebted to the learners and thought of ploughing back into the community that supports Midey Group. The learners’ education is now our responsibility,” he concluded.
