Woman (30) killed in collision on R101 outside Polokwane

A 29-year-old man was in critical condition following the incident on Saturday (February 26).

POLOKWANE – ER24 has confirmed the death of a 30-year-old woman who was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Saturday (February 26).

According to a statement by the emergency medical services (EMS) provider, the collision occurred at around 10:30 along the R101 just outside Polokwane.

“ER24 paramedics were on the scene along with Fire & Rescue, the traffic department, government EMS as well as other private services. The body of the woman was found about 5m from the vehicle, having been ejected. She unfortunately showed no signs of life and was declared dead on arrival by the government EMS,” their statement reads.

A 29-year-old man was found seated in the same vehicle. “He was in a critical condition and ER24 treated him with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to a nearby hospital for further care,” they added.

ER24 said none of the occupants in the other vehicle sustained injuries. “SAPS were also on the scene for further investigations,” they concluded.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, six people were killed in a head-on collision near Lephalale.
