Bicycle collector shows off his vintage collection

Vintage bicycle collector Elmo Barnardt staged a vintage bicycle exhibition from February 24 to 26 in Polokwane to create awareness about cycling and vintage bikes.

POLOKWANE – Some of the bicycles which were on the show were road, racing, cruiser and free-ride bicycles.

He says irrespective of the evolution of bicycles there will always be a distinction between the preferred modern bikes and the old classical ones.

“The new bikes are superior but they don’t last because they are made of carbon fibre. The old ones were designed with more steel which ensured more durability. Those are some of the things we wanted to share with the consumers and bicycle enthusiasts in Polokwane.”
