[PHOTOS] SPCA’s mud walk a barking success

POLOKWANE – Residents who wished to join with their own dogs were also welcomed. SPCA Polokwane manager Selma Landman told Polokwane Observer that after the rain prior to the event, they thought of hosting the mud walk for the dogs in order for them to have a bit of fun while they enjoy a walk with their owners.

“We used to host these events often but we were distracted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Now we’re happy that we can finally host more activities the dogs always love. As the SPCA, we would like to invite more people to be part of the mud walk and to bring their dogs to enjoy themselves,” Selma said.

A raffle competition was held after the walk where dog owners won various hampers for their dogs as a token of appreciation for participating in the walk.

With the dog walks, Selma explained that the SPCA also tries to create awareness to the public that their pets need to be groomed and taken good care of.

“We would also like to mention that the SPCA needs the community’s support as much as possible because since Covid-19, the shelter doesn’t get as much support as it used to,” she said.

Selma encouraged the community to donate anything that will be beneficial to the shelter. Donations can be made at the SPCA situated at 46 Lansdale road in Roodepoort just outside the city or at the SPCA charity shop situated in Savannah Mall.

“This charity shop helps us a lot financially, but more donations and support would be much appreciated,” Selma concluded.
