Toughboiz set Limpopo’s dance floors alight
The pantsula dance crew from Ga-Makanye in Mankweng, which consists of members Johannes Chabalala (27), James Thabo Gafane (24), Koketso Mafotja (24) and Solly Moreroa (24), was founded in 2010.
POLOKWANE – The Toughboiz set dance floors all over Limpopo alight.
At first, they danced for fun and saw it as a way to pass time. Chabalala explained they were still young and didn’t take dance seriously in the beginning. “People would always advise and motivate us to take it up as a career. We decided to take this seriously and started to take part in competitions,” he said.
Since they started to compete, they have taken home five titles. As much as they love dance and competing, one of the challenges they face is transport to go to competitions. “We have difficulty getting to competitions. We also have no sponsor or manager, which makes it difficult to get our attire together because we must wear something unique and attractive,” said Gafane.
Mafotja added they are also in need of money for food during competitions because it is not possible to do well with low energy levels.
Moreroa explained they practise four hours on Monday to Friday. Follow them on social media on TikTok (koketsoma6), on Facebook (Toughboiz) and on YouTube (Toughboiz).
