[WATCH] Motorists driving into oncoming traffic on the N1

Transport media liaison officer Mike Maringa has urged motorists travelling on the N1 to be patient and to exercise caution.

POLOKWANE – Traffic volumes on the N1 south heading to Gauteng have picked up since this afternoon (May 2).

According to Bakwena Platinum, more than 2 000 vehicles are travelling through their tollgates every hour since 11:00.

In a video shared on the Citizens Emergency Group, motorists can be seen travelling into oncoming traffic near the Kranskop toll plaza.

Review contacted Transport media liaison officer Mike Maringa who said:

“We have noted reports of reckless driving by some motorists who are impatient on our roads due to high traffic volumes on the N1 south. We condemn with the strongest terms the disregard of traffic rules which is usually the cause of many accidents that we report as a province.”
