Repairs continue as burst pipe leaves Bendor taps dry
The area has been without water after a pipe burst on thecorner of De Wet Drive and Diemeer Street.
POLOKWANE – Residents in the Bendor area remain without water following a burst pipe at the corner of De Wet Drive and Diemeer Street.

Earlier today (May 3), Democractic Alliance (DA) Councillor Jacques Joubert said repairs continued at the site but that water continued trickling into the trench as a result of faulty valves.

“Additional valves needed to be closed as water was pushing up from the downline and that valve was also problematic and did not close properly, according to foreman,” his update read.
Joubert added that a bigger pump was brought in to assist in drying up the area and that repair time was estimated between five to six hours.
He said the DA will be submitting a formal set of written questions to council on how the problem was handled as well as the cause and mitigating factors.
He urged residents to phone the municipality on 015 290 2000 to request a water tanker.
On Monday (May 2), municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said water tankers are assisting affected residents with temporary relief of water supply while the maintenance team repairs the pipe and urged residents receiving supply to use water sparingly.
