POLOKWANE – The Westenburg Golden Girls and Boys have a family fun day planned for May 17, and they need your help to make the day a success.

The day will be a fun outing for the elderly and is also aimed to raise awareness about hypertension.

The Westenburg Community Hall will be the venue and Golden Girls co-ordinator Dora Buys explained to Review that they need help with putting together small food parcels for the elderly.

“We also need assistance with transport to get some of the elderly to the community hall and back home as some of them are no longer mobile. We want to involve as many elderly people and show them that they are special,” she explained.

They hope to be able to provide a nutritious meal for the elderly on the day, as well as have a small parcel for them to take home. Buys added they have approached a number of businesses for assistance and some have shown interest.

She appeals for more people who are in a position to help make the day a success to assist them. “Your assistance will greatly benefit a number of older persons as well as make a difference in their day-to-day existence,” she said.
