WATCH: Nurses reflect on the importance of their profession
Mediclinic Limpopo's deputy nursing manager Alphonsina Sekgoka said nursing is not an easy profession but having empathy, endurance and understanding is what makes nurses who they are.
POLOKWANE – Mediclinic Limpopo celebrated Nurses Day by hosting an event where hostital management expressed encouraging and empowering messages to nurses in attendance.
International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12 which coincides with the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.
Deputy nursing manager Alphonsina Sekgoka said the theme for the day is ‘Nursing care is a calling’ and called on nurses to carry out their duties with empathy, compassion and understanding.
Sekgoka added that the profession is not easy, but endurance allows for great patient experiences.
