UPDATE: Polokwane water stoppage extended to 10-hours
Repairs at the Ebenezer water scheme will take 10-hours and not six hours as first reported by Lepelle Northern Water.
POLOKWANE – Residents in the city are reminded of a water stoppage that will affect supply tomorrow (June 7).
Repairs on the Ebenezer scheme will take place from 07:00 to 17:00.
Polokwane Municipality spokesperson Thipa Selala said Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) had initally planned for a six-hour shutdown but have extended it to a 10-hour shutdown.
“The shutdown is to repair the leaking main pipeline. The city, Seshego, Mankweng, Mentz and Segwashi will be affected,” he said.
Selala added that the municipality will provide temporary relief through water tankers until LNW completes its work and restores water supply to the Polokwane Municipality.
“All customers are urged to use water sparingly and report promptly water related challenges to Water and Sanitation helpline so that the municipality can come to the aid of those affected,” he said.
The next shutdown will be on July 12 for 24-hours to replace “critical valves on the Specon pipeline” at the Olifanstpoort plant.
