Industry colleagues mourn the death of Hawks spokesperson
Lt Col Matimba Maluleke was reported by close colleagues to have been ill and was subsequently hospitalised before his death.
POLOKWANE – Colleagues in the media and communication fraternity in Limpopo and beyond expressed shock and sympathised with the loved ones of provincial Hawks spokesperson, Lt Col Matimba Maluleke after his passing last week.
Limpopo’s head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), Maj Gen (Adv) Gopz Govender in a statement said Maluleke passed away on Friday following a short illness.
He described him as loyal, disciplined and energetic to the cause of communication.
Ahead of the official statement, Maluleke was reported by close colleagues to have been ill during the week and was subsequently hospitalised.
Maluleke was promoted from the rank of Captain to Lt Col in May last year.
WO Lethunya Mmuroa of the police said Maluleke lived in Polokwane for work purposes but grew up in Ribungwane village in Giyani.
His memorial service was held on March 14 at Manna Tabernacle Church.
