Mokopane-born policeman crowned Idols 18 winner

Warrant Officer Thapelo Molomo is stationed at the Brits Police Station in the North West and proved to be a popular contestant this season.

MOKOPANE – The management of the South African Police (SAPS) have congratulated Warrant Officer Thapelo Molomo (29) for being crowned the Idols Season 18 winner.

Molomo was victorious over Nozi Sibiya from KwaZulu-Natal during the finale at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria.

Born and bred in Mokopane, Molomo began his career as an intern within the Psychological Services Section of the SAPS and was later employed to serve as a trauma counsellor in the same environment.

He is currently stationed at the Brits Police Station in North West.

Police spokesperson Colonel Athlenda Mathe said Molomo is a registered counsellor attached to the Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) component and holds a B.A (Hons) Psychology degree.

“He is responsible for providing counselling and proactive psychological interventions to alleviate mental health ills for police members and their families,” a statement read.

The finale was attended by the Police Minister Bheki Cele who said Molomo serves as a beacon of hope for many police officers who are faced with psychosocial challenges on a daily basis.

” He has illustrated to thousands of officers that hard work, determination and perseverance is the foundation of any successful human being. We are proud of him and wish him all the best. We cannot wait to have him back in office to continue serving our men and women in blue”, Cele concluded.

Molomo thanked his fans and said he is grateful for all the votes received.

He walks away an instant millionaire as he receives R1m in cash prizes, which among others, includes a brand new car.
