POLOKWANE – About 50 riders from horse clubs in Gauteng and Limpopo showcased their talents in horse riding skills, including endurance and jumping at the Limpopo Championships held at the The Ranch Equestrian Centre on November 12.

The event saw riders testing their own endurance and their horses’ long-distance ability on the open 80km road.

Some of the winners were Juan van Tonder from Letaba Uithouritklub, Bernard Lienke from Premier Club, Celina Foster from Randfontein Mogale, Yanica Haasbroek from Letaba Uithouritklub, Harper Nick from The Rand, Pieterse Yanke from Premier and Marietjie van der Merwe from Waterberg.

Yanica Haasbroek, event organiser, thanked all the riders for making the event a success.

“It was an action-packed day, very exciting and everyone was happy to compete. The weather wasn’t as pleasant, but we soldiered on. We want to thank The Ranch Resort for the world-class facility, all the riders enjoyed riding the 80km route.”

Paul Shearer, managing director of The Ranch Resort, said they were happy to host the Limpopo Championship.

“This was the third equestrian event we hosted. This event contributes to sport tourism and we look forward to host more endurance disciplines in the future.”
